In June 2021 Prof Peter Newman interviewed David Galloway and Anna Kelderman about the process they developed to design cities for the User eXperience (UX) using Leederville in Western Australia as a text case.
This project was based on the recognition that most of the good things that we want to see in cities happen at a precinct scale, however the contemporary planning, architecture and urban design industries are fundamentally about facilitating site by site development with the User eXperience as a secondary consideration.
This process was citizen driven and included design professionals, local and state government officers, developers and community members. It main objective was to design interventions that would make Leederville a city that is good for humans.
